Letters to God #2: Going through the motions

Image
Hi reader, Let me properly return to my blog page; something I didn't do in my last and first blog post for the year 2021. It was a rough day; or had been a series of rough months and I had run out of ideas to calm myself down when I thought of my trusted therapy that works every single time - writing  - which I had abandoned somewhat intentionally in the past couple of years, because life. So here's a quick reintroduction of myself and this blog page to anyone that may read this post. I know it's quite tricky getting old readers back but hey, new beginnings aren't bad, right? My name is Faith, I'm a lot of things, including a Lawyer, Human Rights researcher, Men's Personal Stylist ; YouTuber ;  Social media manager; Content creator; Designer  and Writer  Whew. It's a lot right? I know.๐Ÿ˜€ I've been blogging actively since 2013 and writing fiction short story series for that long as well. I also love to sing a lotttt, and I have documented some 'so...

Letters to God #1

Image
For a few weeks now, I’ve had tons of questions unsettling my mind about how God works. The year has come with its ups and downs (a lot of downs if I may add) but the bottom line is how exactly does God work? What is expected of me? How much faith do I need to have for mountains to move? Don’t get me wrong, I love God, I love Jesus and the past year (2020) has taught me to love God as I would love a friend, as I love my husband and those I can physically see. And when I examine the kind of love I have for human beings, I see that it usually comes with no strings attached. I love deep; I’ll literally carry your matter on my head ; I don’t hold back when I love. And honestly, most times, I don’t even expect anything in return. This was my first new year resolution - to cultivate this same relationship with God last year; not to use him as my ATM that I only go to when I need to withdraw money, but to love him like I love those around me. I honestly have a feeling that I overs...

God is Always speaking!

The past couple of months have been a rollercoaster, especially with the pandemic and everything that has come with it. Imagine finding the key to unlock your potential as a business owner, and just after you find that key a pandemic that cripples the world sets in without notice. I've been on a roll most of the time, with my head bursting with ideas left, right and center. I was on survival mode most of the time, and some times, I get caught up in too many things that I only take a break when a serious headache sets in. I have had this type of headache for two straight days now, and because I can't do anything but rest, I am able to hear properly. He has been speaking all year long, but my mind has been busy most of the time. The only time I get to hear him crystal clear is when I take a serious break. I've been doing that consciously this year. Most times, this is our default setting - busying ourselves with ephemeral things, albeit things we genuinely consi...

A MENTOR TO CELEBRATE

Image
Hey people. Look who is back after a few weeks in hiding.๐Ÿ˜ƒ I'll tell you what I've been up to but before then, I need to quickly share this short story. Sometime in 2015/16, I was studying for my Masters degree, and I used to visit the malls as a pass-time activity from books. Window shopping was free anyway, and no one would judge you for walking in, trying on a few clothes and shoes and leaving without purchasing anything ( you guys should wash clothes bought in stores before wearing just for this singular reason ๐Ÿ˜‚ ). Back then, my Instagram page was only for my personal pictures and pictures of friends. No serious business at the time. Then one one of those days, I found a Steve Madden sandal at the factory store selling at a ridiculous price. I posted it and bam, that was the day my personal shopping  business started. A dear friend took it upon herself to invest in my business by shopping tons of items that I took home that year and the rest they say, is hi...

CoronaHappy - No pressure

Pre-covid19 era - so much joy! Hey peopleeeeee, How are you doing? Can you tell I'm excited? ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Here's why: I'm gradually getting my blogging groove back - posted twice on the blog last month and look who is here again. This is minus my Instagram posts (I hope you're following me on Instagram, if not, hurry to @tyfaithsblog to follow, so we don't fight ๐Ÿ˜‹) . I'm so excited about this. * inserts Nigerian Thanksgiving song, e.g. Ijรณ opรฉ mi dร * ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Okay, let's get serious. I woke up this morning with the need to share this. In the last two days, it seems some people rose up to oppose motivational speakers and business coaches who have been saying we should make the most of this period ( the quarantine situation in most parts of the world because of Covid19 ), and there have been so many tweets around doing nothing, don't let the pressure get to you, sleep if you want to and so on. If you don't know what I'm t...

Mother's Day Celebration: A tale of miscarriage!

Image
Hey people. How're you doing? It's been a minute on the blog but I've been as active as possible as I can be on the blog's Instagram page (@tyfaithsblog) , which you should be following if you don't want to miss out on my random gists.๐Ÿ˜‰ Today, I'm dedicating this post to all mothers but most especially to those that have miscarried a baby or more. I finally have the courage to do this after (almost) 3 years. Whew. Ready? Here it goes. Sometime in October 2017, I found out I was pregnant. It was the most beautiful thing to ever happen to me. I couldn't express the feeling. My husband had just come to visit me in school (outside our home country, Nigeria) where we celebrated our first year wedding anniversary and it must have been the anniversary "doing" that led to the pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant after he had returned home, and I still remember how excited he was when I told him over the phone. Two week...

I Gave Birth and my life Stopped!

A 2-week old picture of me being so happy - that's my current state till date Hi people. Happy new year is in order since this is the first time I'm showing up this year. Trust everyone has been doing great. I'm starting this year with this post that is long overdue. I'm done overthinking and putting myself in the "short stories" box, which is not even the original intention for creating this blog. I literally had a brain reset this past week, and I told myself, no more! No more waiting till the perfect time to put my thoughts to paper like I used to do before. I mean, this blog was created out of the need to escape and basically share everything (well, almost everything) in my mind and just have a no judgment-free spirited-joyful-escape zone; some place I can come back to and read stuff and just laugh and the world is a better place again. For those that have followed my blog long enough, you'll remember that's exactly what th...
