Bed of Roses (Episode 9 - Episode Finale)

Actual Present Day "Honey, hurryyyy. We'll be late..." He checked his watch for the third time. 'Women would always be women', he said to himself as he thought of how long ago his wife had begun dressing up and she was still not fully dressed. "I'm coming... One more minute, I promise" She stepped out of the room and responded loudly enough for him to hear her down the stairs. He took the remote and began searching through the channels for anything that would distract him from checking the time. Nothing seemed interesting enough to watch. She used her lips to hold the bobby pins while parting and twisting her hair into a desired style before holding the twists at different angles with the bobby pins. She heard him ascend the stairs and tried to hurry her hair styling to no avail. She rushed to the closet, picked a white purse and a white sandal to match and then hurried out to meet her time-conscious husband standing at the door with an o

“Say something, please…” Fikayo pleaded as she looked closely at her dumbfounded friend. Sewa opened her mouth to talk for the umpteenth time but the words wouldn't come. She took her handbag from the table, dropped her phone into it and stood up to leave. The cafeteria seemed stuffy all of a sudden; she needed some air. She staggered a bit as she tried to move out of the tiny corner seat. It was only then she realised how uncomfortable the seat had been for the past half hour. There was too much going on all at the same time; her brain seemed to have frozen for a few minutes. She walked out of the cafeteria still in shock, managed to locate her car, and rested her back for a few minutes before getting into the car. The knock on the window alerted her. She raised her head from the steering, looked at Fikayo who was knocking on the door with tears in her eyes but instead of opening the door or rolling down the glass, Sewa locked the door and started the car. She waited a few mi

Tuesday “Leave the road if you know you have nowhere to go.” The loud shouts and hooting from the cars behind alerted her. The traffic light had turned green for a few seconds and the struggle to beat the traffic light was real, especially since it was one of the awkward traffic lights that went back to red almost immediately after turning green. “I’m sorry” She said quietly as she zoomed off before the light turned back to red. She sighed heavily. She wasn’t sure of how the conversation with Sewa was going to turn out but this time around, she seemed to be the one in danger. She had messed up big time. She brought everything she was currently going through all on herself. Her heartbeat increased as she tried without success to compose the story she was about relaying to Sewa properly. How was she going to tell Sewa that after her husband was discharged from the hospital and he insisted that she should discontinue further investigations on Tade’s whereabouts, she continued

"You're yelling at me, you know that right?" Sewa stood in front of Kunle and looked straight into his eyes. He looked away for a few minutes without saying a word. He picked the car keys he had thrown on the coffee table while the argument was ongoing and walked out on her. He was not going to have this discussion any longer. Sewa stood there with her mouth ajar for a few seconds. She watched her husband walk out on her and was confused. Yes, they argue but it had never gotten this bad. She tried to figure out what she did or said wrong by telling him how her day went, omitting Tade's visit of course but mentioning that she called to check up on Fikayo and she sounded really 'off'. "Let this be the last time you mention that name in this house. I've told you not to call her again" Kunle started rather coldly but Sewa continued by explaining that she was sure she heard Fikayo crying on the other end of the line. "Are you deaf or som

Monday "1, 2, 3 Bump the chest - 1, 2... 1, 2 Bump the chest - 1, 2 A step to the front... step to the back Spin Forward slide... Slide to the back..." The dance routine went on for another 20 minutes before Sewa called it a day for her couple clients that came around for their final dance rehearsals. The wedding was slated for Thursday and they had almost every other thing in place apart from a perfect dance that they both wanted so badly. Sewa was particularly happy about their zeal to get their moves right. Their seriousness at all prior rehearsals had been quite encouraging. She had to tell them to loosen up most of the time and concentrate on having fun while they danced. "Was it close to perfect this time?" The shy bride-to-be asked slowly. "Of course. You both nailed it. Now don't forget what I told you. Make sure you don't slide backwards completely. I don't want you tripping..." Sewa replied with a smile of relief. &qu

One year ago "Do you Adesewa Oludoyin take Olukunle Israel to be your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold till..." "Hello, please can I see you for a moment?" He bent his head as he whispered his request into the ears of a smiling Fikayo who was focused on the couple as they exchanged their vows. Fikayo turned to see who it was that was whispering and she almost jumped out of her skin. "Tade... Oh my word. What are you doing here?" She whispered back. She tired so hard to hide her excitement but she couldn't. She adjusted on her seat in a bid to create a space for Tade to sit. Tade on the other hand, began making his way out of the church but signalled to Fikayo to meet him outside. Fikayo gave a brief explanation to Bosun, excused herself and ran out to hug her long time buddy. "Tade Durojaiyeeee..." She hugged him yet again. "Look at you..." She moved back a bit to take a full look at him. Tade indulged her

"But why are you treating me this way? Why?" Sewa broke the deafening silence in the car. "It's been three months; three whole months. I can't take this anymore..." She continued, ignoring the fact that Kunle remained silent all through. "Whatever lesson you're trying to teach me has been duly noted." Sewa stepped out of the car and hurried into the house to cry her eyes out since her husband had suddenly become mute. "Lord, why? I said I was sorry for being foolish, for almost losing my husband because of my stupidity. Why is he still treating me this way?..." She sobbed softly in the bathroom. "One minute, he's all cool and sweet. The next minute, he switches to this man I don't even know; cold and withdrawn... Please Lord, have mercy..." She continued her plea, while wiping away the tears from her face simultaneously. She immediately turned on the tap and began washing her face when she heard Kunle

Sewa walked out of the hall towards the car park. The noise level depreciated as she moved farther from the hall and the numerous people chatting and posing for pictures outside the hall. She had only just told her husband of the urge she had to call Fikayo and now an emergency message just came in from Chioma. "Hello Chioma, what's wrong with Fikayo?" Sewa asked in a hurry once Chioma picked her call.  She was particularly worried because she could not remember giving Chioma her number, and this meant Chioma went out of her way to get her number just to let her know something was wrong with her dear friend. "Hi Sewa. I don't know o. That's why I'm calling you...." Chioma started. Sewa was even more confused.  "But you just sent me a message that something was up..." "Yes, I have a strong feeling something is wrong. She's been ignoring my calls, not picking me on her way to church for about two weeks now, and t

HUGE APOLOGY!!!

Good morning lovely people. I hope we all had a splendid weekend. It has become imperative for me to make this disappointing announcement. I take my blog very seriously, and most importantly my audience, beautiful people like you. And as much as the stories and posts I share on my blog are purely voluntarily (literally on my own terms), it is unfair to keep everyone waiting on the continuation of a story or any post I have started. Sincerely, I'm never settled when I have a pending post to publish and I want to apologise to everyone for doing just that with this sequel. It took me a really long time to start the sequel due to so many reasons I can't begin to share here and the truth is (I'm going to break your hearts now...*sobs*) I have to pause the sequel again. I have lots of deadlines to meet up with my actual job (and other projects) and it's really not being easy sitting in one place to type out all the episodes. But I PROMISE to upload three episodes (or
