The Perfect Monday Syndrome... How true?

Image
Hello people. I came up with this write-up this morning. Read and Enjoy, and drop your comments once you're done. Thanks. ................................................................... How true is the myth that once you start off your monday on a "funny/wrong" note, the rest of the days of the week are likely to turn out the same way? It's a beautiful but extremely cold Wednesday here in South-Western Nigeria. I woke up quite late, hurried to prepare breakfast for everyone, do some kitchen cleaning; before going to the bathroom. I decided to do a brief laundry too. By the time I was done getting all set for work, I was already so late. I have this sweet neighbour that drops me off at work. She was already late too, but I delayed her the more, as I had forgotten to pick so many things that I'd be needing for the day at work. I had to go back a couple of times to pick my wig and gown, get my packed food (thanks to my sister), pick up my wallet... And ye

START STIRRING... AND DON'T STOP! (2)

Hello beautiful people. Hope you're heeding my advise of keeping warm this season? Here's the continuation of the series I started earlier today. Read and be blessed! START STIRRING... AND DON'T STOP! (2) 'A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth , it prospereth (wherever it turns, it prospers).' Proverbs 17:8 Paul speaks of 'the gift of God' in you (2 Timothy 1:6-7 NIV). It isn't something you learn; it's something He gives you, and nobody else can activate it for you. You 'stir' it up by developing and using it. Solomon said, 'A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that hath it: whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.' Your gift will enrich many different areas in your life, not all of which are financial. While money is the wrong reason to devote your life to something, developing your God-given gift is rewarding on multiple levels. Unfortunately, many people are j

START STIRRING... AND DON'T STOP (1)

Hello people. It's the festive season again. The weather is changing; and it's often the first pointer to the Christmas period. I believe you're doing all you can to stay warm. Please do stay warm; and read through the series I'd be sharing with you in the last few days of this amazing year. I have this really cool friend that shares amazing devotional write-ups with me, and most times I can't keep the things I gain from them to myself. So I've decided to start my christmas giving by sharing them with you. Have a fab time reading through. Merry Christmas y'all. START STIRRING... AND DON'T STOP! (1) '...Stir up the gift of God...in you...' 2 Timothy 1:6 God gave you your talent, but it's your job to develop it. And it's not that complicated, because your gift usually relates to something that excites you. Think about it: God made you; He hardwired the desires of your heart. Knowing that helps you to understand why the things yo

Hello everyone. I trust you've all been doing great. I've been away for a whooping 8months now, and it's been due to a whole lot of things that I can't begin to explain right now. But I'm super excited to be back here to share my exciting thoughts with you. Today's post is just a quick dedication to all my amazing friends and fans out there, especially a new dear friend I just made in the past few months, that ensured I kept my blog alive. Thank you, Oluseyi Otufale of Me-Tym Productions. Bigger thanks to every other gorgeous friend of mine; can't begin to mention names right now, but you all have been super wonderful. Wanna share a cute write-up one of my adorable "make-up artist" friends (Ronke Lawal) sent me. I know it will get you thinking. Please Enjoy: "Around the corner I have a friend, In this great city that has no end, Yet the days go by and weeks rush on, And before I know it, a year is gone. And I never see my o

I NEVER LOST MY PRAISE !!!

It’s a beautiful morning at my end here. I woke  up with so much excitement. I couldn’t just wait to come down here and share my joy. Today, I’m celebrating one amazing year filled with, so much joy, laughter, happiness, drama plus accomplishments that I never imagined could surface all at the same time. Exactly one year ago, I went through what seemed to be the most humiliating time of my life. It didn’t exactly start this day (29 th March) last year. The whole experience had begun some months before then but they were just times I prayed and wished everything around me will be alright but didn’t. I’m sure most of you are lost but here’s the long story cut short, in the lyrics of a song I really love: "I've lost some good friends along life's way Some loved ones departed in Heaven to stay But thank God I didn't lose everything I've lost faith in people who said they care In the time of my crisis they were never there But in my disappointment

Charles Novia shares his perspective on “My Oga at the Top"

Charles Novia shares his perspective on “My Oga at the Top” Obaifeiye Shem, the Lagos Commandant of the Nigerian Security and Defence Corps, would never have imagined in his life that he would start off a viral and new-Naija lexicon with his famous phrase, ‘my Oga at the top‘. I caught the bug just a day back when I started receiving blackberry broadcasts with whimsical coinages about it and I had to go on youtube to see the interview for myself. Briefly, Commandant Shem was asked to give the correct web address of the NSDC and he made the now-famous phrase..’my oga at the top will not allow me..’ or something close to that. As hilarious as this may be to millions of people, it is also a sad reminder of our societal genuflection as a people. The whole apparatus of the Nigerian administrative organogram is strangleheld by so many ‘Ogas on top’. An effective ‘checks-and-balances’ system which works seamlessly in other climes is made impotent here in Nigeria by a wicked system of admi

HEARTBREAK WARFARE (II)

Image
Handling and getting over a break-up I started this series by giving a little insight into the things that could cause a break up and possible warning signs one should look out before your relationship hits the wall. I also gave some pieces of advice on how to make it work if you want it to and how to carefully go about it if not. Today, I'll be talking about how to handle and get over a break up . If you've done all you can as a lady to keep your man; you've prayed, changed all the things he complains about, tried to make it work & as a guy, you've put in your very best in making it work but in the end, you still get your heart broken with the news of a break up; then you have to know how to pick up the broken pieces and move on without doing so much damage to yourself and the people around you. Break ups can be so rough and sometimes, they can be amicable; but no matter what, no one really wants to go through them. The loss of a relationship can bring on i

Taking out time to apologize...

Image
Hi everyone.   I trust that we’ve all been good. How did our Valentine’s Day go? I did promise to blog about various issues centered on the most talked about topic for this month: “Love” but I got tied down with work in a place where I had no access to you all via my blog. And that’s why I’m taking this time out to apologize for not keeping my promise. I wish I could take a sneak peek into how you all spent Valentine’s day but that’s not going to be possible. But I’m hoping that no one had an awful one and no one got his/her heart broken by whatever excuse or circumstances. If you did, I need to assure you that you’ve got a shoulder to cry on if need be and here’s me giving you a big hug to ease the pain (XXXX). As for me, I had a swell time on Valentine’s day. Let’s leave it at that…*Winks* I’m back and better now and I sure have a whole lot to share with you. Enjoy the rest of your day. And please, keep reading!

When the Chips are down, Do We Really Love?

Image
Hello people. I want to believe we've all been having a nice day?   As we all know, Valentine's Day is around the corner. I'd be posting a lot of things on the popular subject of LOVE from now till the 14th of February. And i'm starting today by posing this big question to you: Do you really Love? If we carefully consider the issue of love and ask ourselves this question, we'll find out that most of the time, we love God and people for reasons; we just love what is in God's hands - the protection, provision, safety, care that He showers us with all the time; and for people, we love them because of the things that they can offer or for the things we can get from them. We may not easily agree but that's the truth. Take for example, you love me because i'll often have a kind word to make your day, a smile to cheer you up; for those that know me, the jokes i tell, etc; you love your partner because he/she is educated, soft-spoken, vast, intelligent, pret

T.G.I.... (fill in the gap): It's an attitude!

Good morning people. I bet you all slept well. It's a funky fresh friday and although I should be more excited than this but I'm not. That's because I started the day off on a pretty bad note; bashed my car while trying to driving out. My driving skills need to improve asap. But that is just by the way. Today, the famous acronym comes to mind - TGIF which means Thank God It's Friday. Everyone looks forward to Friday 'cause it's the door into the weekend. I still wonder why Friday is so close to Monday and  Monday is far from Friday. But I was thinking yesterday night while trying to scribble something down for my blog, why can't we customize the TGIF acronym to suit our various circumstances at different times? It really is a positive way to view Friday as the close of working days and it can be a positive way to view your everyday life. It speaks a lot of volumes to be thankful to God for yet another Friday and if we imbibe the TG...(fill in the gap)

The New Face of Ibadan

Image
I've lived in this great and ancient city of Ibadan for 19 years now and to be candid, i've had a great stay in this calm city. However, this city has been characterised by "dirtness" and "disorganisation". It ranked top as the "dirtiest" city in Nigeria. Indeed, Ibadan has been a "big slum". Lawlessness and non-challant attitude has been the order of the day. And we the "seemingly tush" ones have learnt to live in it, only caring about our own house and not even the rest of the street. And when Fashola came into government in Lagos State and started the brutal revolution, many of us in Ibadan were quick to conclude that that was only possible in Lagos and such revolution cannot take place in Ibadan. Oyo state with the slogan of "Pace Setter" has actually failed to set the pace in so many things in the past years up until now when it seems that a bit of fresh air is blowing into this great city. The recent Ajimob

I wanna see you dance....

This is a song by Deitrick Haddon. The lyrics are so inspiring and i just wanted to share parts of it and not verbatim. I added some things, though. Enjoy! To all Nigerians All my sisters and brothers Things are gonna get better Life has a way of bringing hard times That can mess with your peace of mind But don't let the troubles on the outside Take the love you have on the inside And I'd give anything to see you smile again To know your love again, to have my friend And I'd give anything to hold your hand again To watch you laugh again, to have my friend Oh I want to see you happy I want to see you dance I wanna see you dance You should be dancing you should be dancing That old devil is a monster Have you hating the ones that love you And you don't have to let him move you There's a greater love that's working through you And I'll give anything to see you smile again To watch you laugh again, to have my friend  I'll give anything to hold your hand a
