Tired Does It

Image
Hello people. I know I have been missing in action for so long. I have had a million and one things going, hence, my absence. I hope we've been doing great? I have missed being here but I know I'll be back soon (can't promise when) and powerfully too. However, something happened to me today and I just had to share here because I have this intense feeling that someone out there needs to read this. Enjoy! And have a fabulous 'turn-up' filled weekend. Cheers! *** Sometimes, 'tired does it'. I'll explain. Sometimes, you need to get tired of your situation ( now you understand the kind of tired I'm talking about ). I was facing a particular situation, a very hectic one that had lasted for a while. I had done everything I could; followed all instructions given by experts; researched and read things from google searches and followed every tip wholeheartedly. Yet, nothing seemed to be working. The expected results were not forthcoming. It w

The Beauty in our Differences

Hello People! How are we doing? . Welcome to the 8th month of the year. Can you believe it? 2017 is going so fast and even though I felt July was really slow, it's amazing to see how fast the year is going generally. I hope we've all been putting our aspirations and inspirations to good use. If you're like me who is yet to meet a whole bunch of set targets  don't get all worked up. You're not alone. We're in this together... lol. But of course, we can't relent in our efforts to meet those targets and reach those goals. . Today, I just want to think aloud. Call it a random musing , open soliloquy ... whatever fits the description after you're done reading. But it's borne out of what I have observed in the past few months; an issue that began to affect my self esteem without even realizing it until a week ago when I was at a book review and the issue came up and it struck me for the umpteenth time. It's about comparison of people's

Music's in my soul: MY WORLD NEEDS YOU!

Hello everyone. Welcome to a brand new month; the seventh month of this 'awe-mazing' 2017.😀 Before I go on to the main gist of this post, let me start by appreciating everyone for reading through the very first short story series for the year. Thanks for your comments on the blog and on different social media platforms. I'm grateful for the feedback every time. If you haven't read any of the stories, please feel free to search the blog for interesting original short stories from my stables. All you have to do is type the title of the story into the search box to access all episodes for a story. Titles of stories published so far are: - The Butterflies - Being Human - Good Riddance - Chasing Shadows - A Couple of Three (#ACOT ) - Bed of Roses (sequel to #ACOT) - Hook, Line and Sinker *** Yes, to the gist for today. The subtitle of my blog that says " A little bit of everything infused into one"  means something bigger than just writing short st

Three weeks later "Thank you so much" She stretched out her hand to shake the outstretched hand of her doctor - Mrs. Williams. She preferred to call her that. She was her counselling psychologist but she'd rather just call her Doctor to make herself feel better about the entire arrangement. It had been a rather stressful exercise having to admit painful truths and literally confess those truths during the sessions. "You're always welcome." Mrs. Williams smiled back. " So I'll see you..." "Friday." She moved the chair she was previously sitting on back to its former position and made her way to the door. "And I promise to be here on time" She gave a reassuring smile before shutting the door. She stopped outside the door for a few seconds to catch her breath before making her way out of the building. The sessions were becoming more hectic. She had just spent the last hour trying to convince her doc

As he drove them all to the hospital, a million and one things ran through his mind. Bisola had collapsed so fast, he couldn't get a chance to ask Sharon to explain herself. Sharon on the other hand, seemed to have had enough of the drama. She had picked her hand luggage as they hurried to the hospital. At first, he thought she was going to drop by on the way to the hospital but when she followed them on, he figured she had plans to leave when Bisola was stable. It was obvious she was indeed a good friend. But that was not the issue here. He needed answers. Peju on the hand could not be consoled. She kept crying till they got to the hospital. She feared for her cousin. She kept hoping that the doctors would find nothing terribly wrong with her, especially in connection with her brain. It was awkward to know someone this close that would have issues with her mental health, albeit self-imposed denial. That's what she chose to call it after listening to Sharon's side of t

He drove as fast as he could and luckily for him, the address was easy to locate. He rushed for the door and stopped himself from knocking so hard. "Breathe" He told himself for the umpteenth time. He had been telling himself that since he left the house for the mall where he just sat in his car to put calls through to Bisola. This was huge for him. He was a father and somehow, he was the last to know. He thought of his mum as he waited for Peju to call him back. She wouldn't be proud of him. This was not the plan. She had trained him too well for him to turn out this way - an irresponsible man like his father. He was not going to be that man; the one that never showed up for his son, never took responsibility for his upbringing and practically disappeared all through his life. He was going to take responsibility. He knew Bisola would not cook up such a serious allegation just to be with him again. She had stood by him in the darkest of days and he had abused the l

When Peju was tired of knocking, and issuing out threats to break the door open, she relaxed on the floor and rested her back on the door. She tried to make sense of what the commotion was about. At first, nothing made sense, especially since the argument was about a child and Bisola seemed to take breaks from her screaming and yelling every five minutes or thereabout. Whenever it seemed the uproar was coming to an end and there was a bit of quiet, Peju would knock again and Bisola would yell back at Sharon. It seemed her continuous knocks on the door was the prompt Bisola needed to resume her yelling. Peju however found it strange that the name 'Kaina' was mentioned every time Bisola resumed her yelling, crying, screaming or the three at once. Or maybe not. Peju was certain that the commotion had something, if not everything, to do with KainaM. She suddenly remembered her promise to call him back. She jumped up from the floor and rushed to get her phone from the sittin

I would like to apologize firstly to every single person that is devoted to this blog and/or at any time has read a post on this blog, for my recent inconsistencies. My next apology is to myself for being so hard on me for not meeting the target I set for the release of the episodes for this series. Lol. It's been a super hectic past few months and it's only fair that I let everyone know I'm no super human, just in case anyone has been thinking otherwise. I set a one-month target for the completion of this series and I've been unable to meet that target for so many reasons. But the good thing is I haven't given up! And that's the short message I wanted to pass across before we go on with the next episode of Hook, Line and Sinker. Don't give up on the goals and targets you set at the beginning of the year. It may seem that time is running out (and yes, time is actually running out. It's June already and I wish I could push the year back to February.

HOOK, LINE AND SINKER (Episode 8)

No, she was not allergic to any fruit juice. At least, not until four years ago. She had landed in the hospital a second time and had been admitted for longer based on her request. She contacted Sharon the second day after becoming a bit stable, just to alert her and to request that she come by the hospital whenever she could. The doctors were not saying anything major, and if they were, her aunt was doing a good job at concealing it and calming her down with the stereotypical ‘you’ll be fine my dear’ response. Sharon, who was a nutritionist by profession and generally, a know-it-all person looked her in the eye one of those days  doting  aunty Dupe was not around and asked: "What exactly did the doctors say is wrong? I know first pregnancies can be tough for some people but it's the second time you're coming here in less than two months..." "I don't know. I'm just tired..." Bisola sat up on the hospital bed and reached for the bottle
