A thrill of many "firsts" | Blog-not-Mas III

Image
Let's start this episode with this lovely picture of me I couldn't conclude the "LASTMA made me cry" story from the last episode due to my promise of "1000 words or less per episode". So let's pick up today's Blog-not-Mas from there. Missed the first part of the story? Read it here . *** As I drove out from behind the car in front of me, I drove into the hands of a LASTMA official who directed me to an open space to park properly. She called her assistant to enter my car right away so I don't drive off, I guess 😅. Naïve me was still confused. So I asked the junior LASTMA officer sitting in the car with me to explain what I did wrong. It was then she said I shouldn't have swerved out like that; it was government Road and cameras are everywhere blah blah blah. I calmly replied that I didn't know where I was going (thankfully, Google Maps was still on my phone screen), pointing the Maps interface to her to prove I wasn't lying. I expla

You won't even believe this story if I shared it randomly as a caption on Instagram. So it's perfect that I'm taking you on a teeny tiny throwback trip to the first day of this month. Yes, I started December with tears. 😅 But before we go through the sad story of how Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) made me cry, let's take the throwback trip a bit further to the last weekend in November when I reunited with two of my friends after 5 years.                L-R: Faith, A and T 'A' was our official photographer, and he's not really into pictures. So you won't see him again after this. 😄 It was a much-needed hangout that we randomly planned after I met with one of them (the guy) over a project we're working on. Our conversations led us to talking about the group we all used to be in and out of the blue, I picked up my phone to call the second person (the lady) and viola, it was still her number; she was still based in Lagos; and long

It was around 12:10 am when I was baptised with urine unintentionally by my sweet daughter. I say "unintentionally" because she's completely potty-trained and does not bed wet at all. Once you put her to sleep at any time of the day, she won't pee until she wakes up, but because of my trust issues ( please don't come for me ), I still wear a diaper for her to bed. 99% of the time, she wakes up with a clean diaper and only pees before her morning bath. However, on this lovely Thursday (9th December), things went a different route. She got back from school and decided she would only take fluids. She kept switching from one drink to the other, and I indulged her because it seemed the lunch Hubs packed for her to school was quite large, and in their school, you don't waste food.  Anyway, my daughter played, jumped, drank different things in between and slept quite late (around 11:00pm or so). I had some work to do, so she lay beside me and I decided to deal with m

Lessons from my 3-year old

Image
On this day three years ago, God gave me the best gift ever in person of my amazing daughter.  Even though the first year came with a lottttt of work and drama; plenty crying, giving up, getting back at it and encouraging myself in the Lord (literally), the year leading to her third has been so amazing and transformational, not just for her but for me. She has grown so much and on countless occasions, the Holy Spirit has taught me some of the greatest lessons I've learnt this year through my daughter. Because I'm relishing the moments with my daughter as a mum for 3 years and counting, I won't waste too much of your time, neither will this blog be long ( so help me God ). I just want to share 2 of the greatest lessons that the Holy Spirit has been teaching me, using my daughter as the relatable guide and case study ( since I'm only human and sometimes spiritual things are not as easy to grasp. I'm still growing in my walk with God, so it makes sense that the Holy Sp

I killed a Lizard!

Hello Blog Fam. I'm so glad I published my last blog ( which was originally meant to be a lengthy Instagram caption to start with ) because where is November flying to? I've not been able to keep up with this month at all, and I'm trying not to be hard on myself for not managing my time well, because one thing I know for a fact is that I've been utilising every second of every 24 hours of the past 14 days the best way possible. But I'm really glad I published that impromptu blog post, else this would have been such a late new month blog. Anyway, enough of me and my fast and furious November, and back to today's blog, which is a pretty short story about my newly acquired boldness to kill a lizard.  Lizards are at the top of my disliked animals. I detest every type of lizard, from wall geckos to the slim green ones to the red-headed ones to the really massive dangerous ones. I can't stand lizards at all but unfortunately, there are a lot of them where I curren

I cheated!

I just cheated o. 🙆🏽‍♀️😫 *** Happy new month beautiful blog fam. How are you all doing? I pray that this month will be beautiful for you and you will indeed experience 11th hour miracles this month. This is not the type of post I planned to start the month with but I've been thinking of ways to bring back and infuse my hilarious stories to the blog. And this post you're about to read was something I originally planned to just post in a caption on my Instagram blog page  (You should follow me if you're on Instagram), but decided otherwise so that my blog fam (those not on Instagram) can refresh their memories on the hilarious side of Faith. Not every time serious talk in form of pick-me-up posts and other motivational, inspirational posts, abi? Sometimes, let's laugh a "liru" 😂, while we wait for Faith to drop a short story series. ( Do you miss my short stories and do you want a new series as the holiday season is approaching? Let me know in the commen

Haters gon' hate! - October reflections

I have been driving a lot this year. Actually, I started the year with a resolution to perfect my driving skills in Lagos. It's not that I don't know how to drive. As a matter of fact, my husband calls me James Bond when it comes to driving in Ibadan, because according to him, I drove a certain type of way (super fast) the night to our wedding when we had to go home to pick souvenirs for our friends lodged somewhere far from my father's house. We had spent the entire day trying to perfect a dance ( that we eventually did not dance sef  😂); going through final wedding procession rehearsals in church and just going back and forth picking up stuff I can't even remember now. Anyway, by the time we were done with final errands, most of our friends had arrived and we forgot to pick their souvenirs which we had planned to give them at the hotel later that night. So I had to drive super fast to the house and back to the hotel around 8pm (which is really late for Ibadan people

Never Late! Pick-me-up

Image
Hello Blog Fam. I trust you're doing great and have had a great week so far. Today, I'll be sharing a revelation I caught very recently. I'm gradually bringing my pick-me-up segments from my YouTube Channel  here, because I've not been able to keep up with uploading videos on the channel. But I still want to share things I have experienced to pick us up. So here goes today's pick-me-up. On one particular day two weeks ago, I miscalculated time allocation for errands to run on my to-do list. I left home around 2:45 pm to get some things at the market. My daughter closes from school by 3pm. So I told myself that I would drive super fast, get to the market, buy what I needed to buy from one section of the market instead of my usual wakabout , and then rush down to pick her. The plan seemed really great in my head. The only problem was her school is about 20 minutes drive from our house ( the duration could be shorter but for the bad road ), so by the time I drove pa

No Record! Offense be gone!

"Love keeps no record of wrong [I Cor 13:5, NIV] Hi everyone. How are you all doing? Welcome to a new month, the first of the last quarter of this special year that 2021 has been.  And look who is trying to follow through with her promise to come back to the blog and be as consistent as possible. 💃 I guess we have the Holy Spirit to thank for this one because the spirit of this girl is willing but Lord save her flesh from procrastination and laziness. 😅 Anyway, let's get into today's " word on the go" , which is centered on OFFENSE. This is also a post I should have made last month but couldn't get around to posting because ( see last blog post for reason 😀). In the middle of September, for some reason, I kept getting this nudge to beware of offenses - being offended, taking offense and offending people. Coincidentally, God confirmed the need for me to be careful through different messages. Everywhere I looked, there was a post, a tweet, a caption, a 30-se
