The Butterflies... Episode 1

Image
This is a work of fiction. Names, characters, businesses, places, events and incidents are either the products of the Faith’s imagination and (actual places) are used in a fictitious manner. Any resemblance to actual persons, living or dead, or actual events is purely coincidental.                                                                                                                        ...  Faith Tunde-Yara The morning seemed brighter, the air smelt fresher, the room felt larger. The big day was here. Had anyone told Tofunmi that this day was going to come so soon, she would have argued blatantly. She had no time for 'men', she had repeatedly told herself how me...

Let's talk fashion...

Image
Hello lovelies.... It's been a while, and as usual, I'm very sorry for the silence. I hope I really get better with being here often. Please pardon me. Today, we will be talking fashion. As we all know, we now have numerous fashion designers in Nigeria today, and it is particularly encouraging to know that young people are looking inward to see what they can bring to the table instead of staying jobless and blaming the government for all there is to blame the government for. I want to introduce a young, vibrant, creative fashion designer to us all today. Funny enough, she studied Mass Communication at Ajayi Crowther University, but has since developed her fashion designing skills all through her NYSC period and is now doing very well for herself. She is by name, ADEBIYI FEBISOLA. She started her fashion outfit  ( FC Couture ) in November, 2013. In a little chat I had with her, she said " our collection of clothing and fabrics are functionally d...

Hello lovelies. Happy new week. Trust you all had a fabulous weekend. I had an eventful one and I just want to share a bit of how my weekend went. Read on! *********** Last Saturday started beautifully at my end here (the South-Western part of Nigeria). Saturdays as we all know, are characterized by various celebrations, parties, get-togethers and what have you. The day started on a 'not-so-smooth' way for me. I had woken up quite later than I expected my alarm to wake me up. I was that tired; didn't even hear it ring. I jumped out of bed when I realized I had a 7am appointment with a make-up client at the far end of my Ibadan base. Just as I set out with my make-up box in one hand and handbag on the other, the heavens opened and these heavy showers came pouring. This was the best opportunity to get my dad to release his car. I did my mushy pity face to daddy and in seconds, the keys to the car was released. Once I set out, I soon found out that I was going to proba...

Hello people. It's been a really long time I posted anything here. Truth is, I've been busier than busy itself. But I'm glad I got this few minutes to drop by to check on you, my lovely readers. There's so much catching up we have to do; and I have so much to talk about. But since I'm just dropping by to say hello, I'd just like you all to watch out for my all the fabulous gists I have in store for you, and my upcoming  "butterflies" series. Trust me, I'd be back to tell you all that has happened to and around me; and in my environs in a bit. Keep your fingers crossed. Peace!

I went happily to Queens Cinema Market with my just withdrawn alawee to get my boyfriend two gifts: one for his birthday and the other, for Valentine’s Day. ‘Sister, Fine Sister, Ajoke to rewa….’   They beckoned at me, to come and check out their men’s store. Finally I agreed to enter one of the seemingly cool stores to get suitable gifts for her man. ‘How much is this perf?’   I pointed at a well-packaged perfume with something that looked like a nice label. ‘Ha, Sister, you sef know good thing when you see am. That perf na original o.’ ‘How much jare? U people too   get mouth, just talk price make I commot’, I retorted. ‘The thing be say that perf wey you point at na N12,500 o ’, they finally summoned up courage to tell me the price.   I thought to myself, that these guys must be big jokers to have thought that I didn’t have more than enough to buy the perfume but I didn’t make my thoughts obvious. I went on to barg...
